From Channel U to USA

I was on twitter earlier and @iamdiddy posted something that got me very excited.
He posted a link to a new video he had just finished.
It got me excited as it was a Grime remix of one of 2010's biggest tracks, Hello Good Morning.

So i thought i'd give a quick mention to the UK music scene which is truly doing great at the moment (and may it long continue).
The UK Urban scene in particular is doing extremely well and artists like Tinie Tempah, Chipmunk and Tinchy Stryder have been getting constant heavy radio play throughout 2010.

What made me decide to write this was to highlight one particular artist - SKEPTA.

Skepta, part of Boy Bette Know, has been doing his thing for a minute but has just possibly pulled of the biggest feat so far for the Grime Scene by featuring alonside P.Diddy and Dirty Money on the grime remix to the Dirty Money smash hit, Hello, Good Morning

You can see the video and leave your comments at The Mixup:

Pass it on and spread the word and let's support UK music.

Rating Systems

Today, i just finished reviewing a new E.P. by a very talented UK based hip hop artist by the name of Byron (review of The Hard Worker E.P.).
It's a great listen and i gave it 4.5/5.
My problem was how do you rate an E.P, what am i comparing against, and why should someone trust my opinion.

I have thought about this previously and am thinking that i wil limplement a new rating system that has an explanation of what i am comparing against.

it would be unfair to compare an unsigned, self funded artist, against someone who has has the backing of a multimillion pound corporation.
But how do you relay this to the reading audience without obviously handicapping the artist in question is my conundrum.

The fact of the matter is a lot of unsigned artists a actually better than there "signed to a major" peers, so do you rate them even higher having achieved more with less.

My difficulty was trying to create a rating system that expalins all of these questins in an easy and visually understadable way.

If anyone can offer some help/advice it would be greatly appreciated.

in the mean time check out the review and download the E.P. if you into UK hip hop. It's a very good listen and the artist in question is sure to have a rosey future.

Thanks for listening
